America's Beauty Show will be held at McCormick Place on March 3-5.  The school will be closed on Monday, March 5th so that our students may attend.

We are looking into renting transportation, as usual.  All students and alumni are welcome to sign up for the transportation.  The cost is approximately $20/person.  If you are interested, you MUST be signed up no later than JANUARY 15th with your money turned in.  We realize it is early, but we have to make the reservation based on the number attending and because this show is so large, transportation services run out of vehicles early.

Please note, if you are a current student, the only way to get hours for that day is to attend the show AND go with us.  You can not drive yourself and still receive hours as there is no way for us to guarantee you attended the show otherwise.

Again, you must be signed up with your money turned in (to Ashley or Nicole!!) by January 15th or you will not be able to attend with us.

We recomend that everyone also purchase their tickets early online so that your packet can be mailed to you!  Believe me when I say you do NOT want to waste 30-45 minutes of your morning waiting in line to check in and pick up your packet at the show.  If you miss the early deadline, that is what will happen.  We have the student registration code at the school, so when you are ready to purchase your tickets, let us know so we can get you the information.  You will be able to register at:

Just a quick note to remind everyone that this is the last week of the year that EAU will be open.  We will be closed from Friday, December 23rd thru Sunday, January 1st.  The school will be back to it's regular schedule on Monday, January 2nd.

As much as we DON'T all want to talk about it, Winter weather is coming!  Please remember that we post our weather alerts on the school's Facebook page.  The weather can be very different around the school than in your area, so it's a good habit to check the facebook page every morning just to be safe.  If the school will be closed that day for weather reasons, it is usually posted by 7am. 

 Please note that occasionally, we will close the school for the day if there is EXPECTED bad weather that day, for the safety of our students.  We don't want anyone to be stuck away from home in a bad storm. 

And for those that do not have facebook, we suggest you find someone reliable that can text you when an alert shows on the page so that you are all kept informed.   

This past Monday, we hosted our first CE class of the summer.  The next class will be Monday, July 11th from 9am-11am.  This class will be on advanced cutting.  The cost of the class is $10/hr required.  If you have questions, contact the school.

Due to last night's storm, the school is still without power and will be closed today, Wednesday, June 22nd.  

Please note, because there is no power, phones are down as well.  

School will resume tomorrow, assuming the power issue is resolved.

With the recent graduation of 2 student teachers and another this coming week, EAU is now accepting enrollment for the Instructor Training Programs to fill in those spots.

You must have a current Illinois Cosmetology or Esthetics license to enroll.  However, years of experience are not required, but will of course be helpful.

We have been getting several phone calls regarding CE classes.  Just an FYI for everyone, we are working on getting classes scheduled for throughout the spring and summer, including some excellent classes from Wella and Sebastian.  Please note, as soon as we have dates and info for these classes, they will be posted to the calendar and we will update the news feed.

Last week, a group of 24 current students, alumni and teachers attended America's Beauty Show together in downtown Chicago.  Students participated in a photo scavenger hunt requiring them to complete several tasks at the show.  Please check out the photo gallery for a selection of photos our students captured at the show.

Students have been asking for the code required on the ABS website (www.americasbeautyshow.com) for EAU in order to purchase a student ticket.  It has been found!

Please contact the school immediately for the code so that you can take advantage of the student pricing.  If you are holding a student ID that shows it is valid for 2011, you are eligible for the student rate, even if you are a recent graduate.  You must have the ID, however, as you will be asked for it at the check in counter upon arriving at McCormick Place.

If you are a current student and do not have an ID, contact Carl immediately.

As a side note, the school will be closed on Monday, March 14th in order for students to attend ABS.  We have again rented limo service for students and alumni to attend together.  There is still space available.  If anyone is interested in going, you need to contact the school immediately.
